| Well, a little bit of news now-
We have decided to move the date for the wedding back to early September, for logistical reasons. We will be moving back to Iowa once I graduate from this course in late May, and moving the date to September will allow us a bit more time to settle there and readjust.
In other news, my fiance Anna is struggling to finalize her bridesmaids. haha This has been frustrating to me, as I know who I would like to have as my groomsmen in a perfect world, but it depends on how many bridesmaids she ends up with. Ah well for now, I'll just wait.

| Well, we're in an interesting position now.. it's looking like as soon as I graduate in May, that I will have a position at a church in North Carolina as their worship pastor. This complicates things a bit because I want to make sure we're settled a bit before we get married. I also know her parents would appreciate it if I had been out there a little while before she moved.
The only problem is we don't know for sure if this job is going to be a reality, so we don't want to set a date until we do.. which might be a few months. So that is stressing my fiance out a little.
Other than that, we met with her parents over Christmas break and they let us know the budget they were thinking for the wedding, so now we need to figure out how to make that work.
The biggest problem we're running into right now is a dinner for the reception. The reception isn't going to be too formal, but we will have a dance floor and a dinner. There isn't a kitchen in the building that would be available for us to use. So we need to find a caterer who can work around that. But we really don't want to spend too much on food. Researching prices for different companies is next on the agenda. |

Everything will be changing, so one more change in the mix is no big deal. An extra big change right before or after that will be a lot bigger deal.

| Hmm, I'd never thought about it that way. I'll have to talk to Anna about this again. |

| Thought I'd post a little update.
We're trying to figure out how we're going to budget the wedding and reception.
Anna came up with the idea of just doing appetizers for the reception and having it at 7 or 8 in the evening... We like this idea because then we won't be tied to the head table for half of the night eating and because it is more relaxed. The focus of the night will shift a bit more towards the social aspect of everything and dancing, instead of the meal.. this will also save us quite a bit of money. We're going to see if we can pool our resources of talented cooks to pull off light appetizers without a caterer.
Does anyone see a problem with this? Is it weird to have a dance without a full dinner? |

| Good! We're definitely thinking this is the best option for us... it will help us stay in budget as well.
Now we're just trying to come up with a bunch of appetizers that can be done at home that don't need to be served heated... any suggestions? |

Try a fruit plate.
One thing my sister did was rent a chocolate fountain and you can dip fruit, marshmallows, pretzel sticks, rice krispie treats (pretty much anything that can be dipped in chocolate). It was a huge hit.
You can do pinwheels (tortillas with cream cheese and meat/green peppers/olives/pickles).
Vegetable pizza and fruit pizza can also be done and don't need to be served heated.
Just a few ideas. |
