I use both as instrument cables. They seem to work about the same. I've used the smaller ones for most of the years I had them and only recently got the larger one to try out. How do they stand up in playing? Like I said, I've never had to replace one - except for the ones that got stolen. Usually, if there is a problem, it's because I needed to seat my cables better in the plugs. I have a saying, "10 out of 9 times, it's operator error."

Once you seat them well though, how long do they last before you have to reseat?

If you don't abuse the cable and it's screwed in tightly, probably never. When I did have a problem, the fix was easy. I have never thrown away a George L cable, except for the very ends that I clipped off.
