What's in a Cab?

A Vox AC15 1x12 Cab is currently available on my local freecycle. It doesn't appear to be the whole thing though so I'm not really sure if it is worth picking up. What exactly goes into a cab? Does this sound like I could just add a speaker to or is it going to take a lot of wiring, etc. to make it work? Here's the description:
Quote:
Empty cabinet from a recent Vox AC15CC Guitar amplifier. Black tolex with brown
diamond grill cloth. Lots of wear. Includes handle and hardware/backpanel but
no chassis or amp parts. No speaker.

In this case, someone has taken a combo amp and removed the amp and speaker. If you wanted to use this as a speaker cab, you just need to install a speaker and an input jack.

Plus, you will have to plug up the hole where the control panel used to be.

EDIT:
As far as the question "what's in a cab" - a speaker, a 1/4" jack to connect it, and a couple feet of 2 conductor wire to connect between the speaker and jack. 18 gauge wire is sufficient, you can use larger wire (lower gauge #, like 16) if you already have some laying around.

And lookie here...I have a speaker to go in it for you...

If you buy it let me know and I'll take $5 off the selling price for you...just for being a member of CGR.

PM sent.

I had missed the part about it being the combo with the stuff taken out, that makes more sense now. So it would just take a speaker, some wire, and a 1/4" jack? Do you think this would be a decent cab? Obviously the hole on top where the control panel was would be the biggest concern, but is there anything else that would make this different than a regular cab?

I don't actually have an amp to use this with right now, but in the past I have decided against buying some head-only amps due to the fact that I didn't have a cab. Something like this should do well for something like an AC4TV, Little Giant, Killer Ant head, right? Or what about 15-30 Watt amps, like a Peavey Classic 30 head?

depends on the speaker entirely.

hmmm, yes I suppose that makes sense. Is it primarily about have the impedance match? So for example, the speaker tenwatt has for sale is 16 ohms, and the AC4 is a 16 ohm output so they will go well together? What about Watts? That speaker says it is 30 Watts, so would that rule out any amps with a higher wattage rating?

you can put a 300 watt speaker on a 5 watt amp, but the reverse would explode.

You need to match impedances and usually have at least the max watt output for the speaker.

PM'd back!

Yeah...if you use a 30W speaker don't use anything more than 30W from the head. Seems like all the stuff you mentioned would work just fine.
