Yes. Because I'm realizing more and more things I don't like about my SKB-55 board.

So has anyone here built there own before? I looked through some threads over on The Gear Page and looks like there are lots of different designs and concepts out there.

I'm trying to figure out how much this would all cost.. I'll try to give some info to make it easier for you guys to help me out.

I would like the board to have simple input and output, I don't need nor want an effects loop.

Also want to be able to power the board from an external extension cord. This seems like a pretty common feature.

I want to run all my cables from underneath the board and I want the board to be slanted.

I need a hard case. Any suggestions?

I also need to power everything.. I'm thinking it might actually make more sense for me to use a 1spot and then power my EHX, Nova Delay, and whatnot off of a power strip under the board.

So I'm thinking I'd like to get this board built for not much more than I can sell the one I have now for. Think that'd be possible?

Thanks for the feedback guys. Gimme some suggestions!

I'm leaning more towards a Pumaboard ripoff, but if you guys have a preference other than that, maybe post a pic and some pros and cons.

I built my own using a suitcase and a scrap sheet of plywood. It lays flat on the ground, but I realize you want yours slanted, but it still may be doable if you nail at least two identical pieces of wood cut at an angle that you want. I would recommend three or four to support the middle. I put drawer handles on mine so that it pulls in and out of the suitcase easier. I put Velcro on it in three strips and then applied the other side to the pedals. It seems to work fairly well except that the Velcro doesn't want to stick to the painted board very good. I've got to super glue it to the board and I think it'll hold.

Overall the most expensive part of my board was the suitcase which ran me $3.99 at the local GoodWill. With that though I got a smaller suitcase so I'm doing a smaller board too. I also got a shaving kit/bag thing and I'm thinking I'll use it for spare cables and stuff. All this looks like it's from the 1960s or 70s.

Yeah, suitcase boards are pretty sweet, but I need something flight-worthy. So I need the board to have metal or steel corners or whatever, flight case, lockable, and so on..

About the bored, I would just do plywood with holes drilled in for power and cables. Do you have a power supply like VooDoo power or do you use batteries/9volt cables? If you have 9 volt cables, i would get a power strip and mount it on the bottom. Realize that if you have a big board, you're gonna need to make a frame type thing to keep it from "sinking". If its just gonna be like 6 pedals, you don't need to worry about that much, so you can just get like a 1"x1" or 1"x2" piece of wood to cut and put it on the bottom.

Idk if that makes any sense lol. Usually if i post something long like that its confusing and unorganized.

But for the case, I would check out R&R Cases. They make custom cases, and for what you need, I wouldn't go to guitar center and get something that'll probably cost you >$200.00 that isn't exactly like you need.

okay well that's not exactly what I was thinking.... um...

I'm thinking something kind of planned out like a pumaboard, only a little wider and not as long.

I'm pretty sure I'm going to just power everything from a 1spot adapter.
