5 string variscale bass.

Still a bit of setting up & tidying to do, but it's playable!!

with the two pups so close to the bridge, there's maybe not as much difference in the sound between them, but hey! I can live with it!!

the body is some unidentified wood that I found in a dumpster. a BIT like cherry, but not.

the neck has a walnut core & two strips of...... something else!! it USED to be the frame of of a roller chalkboard. looks like pale mahogany, but very dusty through the planer.......

fretboard is ebony, and pretty much all the black and shiny bits came from Bezdez in the Canadian corner of eBayland.

the low B string is about 1 1/2" longer than the G and the reduced wrist rotation on the low frets make it really comfy to play.

before this I'd never player a five string OR a variscale bass.

I'm a convert!!

it LOOKS like it should be neck heavy with that tiny body, but as the body is thicker than standard it hangs at about 45 degrees from the top horn straplock.

Very cool.
A bit of a weird lookin bass, but still cool.

I also wanna know what kind of pickups are in there. Is it just two of the same pickup?
If you get one thats would differently that will help out with there not being a great tone difference.
