| iPod alternatives Okay so my iPod's headphone jack has bit the dust. To get a new one through Apple would be $129, I could also get it fixed through a third party for around $50. However my iPod has suffered some wear and tear and who knows how much longer the little guy will last, so I would prefer to just get a new mp3 player. Does anybody use an mp3 player other than an iPod or Zune (won't work with my mac) and suggest it? My only preference is that it come with as much space as an iPod Classic, but for less money.

| if you want over ~20-30gb you are stuck with zune/ipod.
For what it's worth, the zune interface is a lot better, and while itunes may work on OSX, it's heinous on windows, so there's a big plus there (except if you're using a Mac already ) |

Thanks for the help

It'll be more expensive now, but it'll be better (and maybe even cheaper) in the long run.

| you can pick up a Zune 30 for around 100 bucks if you shop around or have the patience to watch Woot every day. I have five of them, they really are remarkable. |

I'll look into the Philips Go Gear that luvinjesus suggested. Do you know if I would need to convert all my music back into mp3 or something else equally annoying to use the software for it?

However, most of them have been known to corrupt or otherwise ruin music and video files.

I also have the cd's for some of the albums.

I still think iPods are the best for value and reliability and Zunes are a close(ish) second.
