The Fourth Kind

THE FOURTH KIND

This one looks pretty creepy, supposedly based on true events. Another demonic oppression type movie maybe? I don't think I'll be able to watch this one if it's based on true events. Most people say The Exorcism of Emily Rose isn't remotely scary, but I lost sleep on that one, only because it was based on a true story and that kind of stuff happens to people I know.

Anyone gonna see this in theatres?

As I walk closer with the Lord I find myself watching less and less TV and movies. It's all pretty much garbage in my opinion. Seeing this movie will not advance the Gospel or being glory to God. So I will be giving this one a miss, it isn't worth a believers time.

Raking the leaves in your yard won't advance the Gospel or bring glory to God either. So, based on your logic, should we not do that either?

By the way, I don't think this movie is really supposed to be about demonic possession. If I heard correctly, the film has more to do with proof of aliens or something to that effect.

Yeah, now that I watch the trailer again, I see that they are leaning more towards alien existence or something. But, to the secular world, demonic situations are often mistaken for mental illnesses or 'alien handy work'

We are also instructed to be good stewards with what the Lord has given us. So I would qualify raking the leaves as good stewardship.

Yes, it's about alien abductions. There are 5 different categories of "close encounters" with UFOs. A close encounter of the fourth kind involves abduction, hence the name of the film.

So what's the fifth kind? (Almost afraid to ask. I've been afraid of "Greys" since I was a kid)

That wasn't the best example. How about something like playing a board game?

Simply put, I'm not convinced we as Christians should avoid television and film simply because it doesn't advance the Gospel. If the content of the TV show or the film goes against your convictions, then don't watch it. However, just because you're personally convicted doesn't mean all Christians will share that particular conviction.

This movie looks terrifying to me. But I've always had a thing about aliens/extraterrestrials/whatevertheheckyouwanttocallthem

I might see it, I might wimp out.
