In Matthew, Jesus excluded divorce based on infidelity. That said, our actions don't send us to hell (big sigh of relief from this sinful guy), but our absence of faith.

Paul also allowed divorce in the case of a non-Christian spouse who wants a divorce.

Good call. So, we show grace to our parents. We continue to respect and love them, even if they are living in sin. Grace is key.

To answer the OPs original question "why can't I own a Canadian". I suspect the answer for you specifically is you can't afford one. They are after all, fairly expensive and it's been my experience it's very hard to get a bank loan to purchase one with out a large down payment. If I were you, I'd look for something a little more affordable, perhaps a domestic model, something from California maybe.

If I were buying a human, I'd shop for either a Canadian or Brazilian. Either would teach me a new language with superflous 'U's and odd cultural nuances.

Funny you should say that. I'm in Rio right now. Want me to bring one home for you? And BTW, Portuguese is a HARD, HARD language to learn. They make sounds that aren't natural. Of course my crew is trying to learn English and that's no easier for them. It took one deck hand the better part of an hour to get the pronunciation for "worthless" down. They do not use the "th" sound at all.

Maybe they could teach you how to spell superfluous while they were at it.
