I like the change from first person to second, but to be honest, I've heard this song too many times before. I should know - I've written it too. The lyrics aren't striking enough to break out of the tired theme. You need more intense word-pictures. I'm not saying I do a better job, I'm saying you chose a theme that's been gone over and rehashed thousands of times and it's incredibly hard to come up with something good in this theme.
