What kind of pick do you use?

I use dun-lop .60mm nylon, and fender 351 thin.
What do you use?
I want to try a few different kind, and then decide what kind I like best.

I prefer playing without a pick.

I like playing with really thick picks. I use Dunlop Big Stubbies. The really thick purple ones (3.0 mm). I have some 2.0's but prefer the 3s. I have used many many picks in the past. If I'm using something thinner I like Nylons because they don't click as much or break as easy when playing.

I've also used a stylus pick, if you want to pick fast, that's the way to go, otherwise they're useless, I used to use it for noodling ala Brad Paisley.

Dunlop Tortexes, the yellow ones. Not too thick (makes your tone into plastic), not too thin (not enough dynamic control), juuuust riiight.

I use thinner picks....somewhere in the neighborhood of .50.......when i play acoustic. This prevents me from getting too much pluck and possibly rattling the string when i play loud and hard. BUt with them that small you get no dynamics when playing solos on electric, but at the same time, i dont want those 1mm thick chunks of plastic, so i go with about a .73 when on electric. I play tortex in all thicknesses. But i have considered the new Ultex picks from dunlop.

A really heavy Dunlop Tortex in grey. It has a really nice finish. Most of the time I use my fingers.

Dunlop medium gel picks. The purple ones. I think they're .80 or something.

fingerpicking, dunlop tortex, and recently vpicks which are by FAR my favorites. The really heavy ones are the fastest picks I have ever played. I got lucky enough to get a large selection at roughly a quarter each, and I really like em.

V-picks are the fastest I've ever played with as well...and I've played no telling how many picks. I usually don't like a really thick pick, but I have no problems playing with their thick ones. I have one of the thinner ones too (thinnest they make I think) and it has a warmer sound...still fast.

I mostly play with just fingers, and yes that includes a lot of strumming.
I've been using picks just a little lately though. I like the V picks already mentioned and the dunlop nylons (.73) the most.

Generally I agree. But with v-picks, I prefer their freakishly big ones. If you need another one of the thin ones, let me know. I got 5 of them.
