These basses are stupid good. I don't own one, but I have played a tonne. As of yet, there isn't a single one I have played that I haven't loved to death.

What would you like to know about them?

I an old school j bass guy ( 70's). I love the tappered neck. My old 73 was very narrow at the nut ( typical J bass) I wanted to know if the digwall was like that or if the neck is tappered at all. I tradded the old J bass for several guitars, so I now have a nice Marcus Miller J bass. Its nice but its too heavy for my taste and I dont really care for the action that much. So I'm looking to trade /sale the Marcus for a Lakland DJ 4 or maybe a Dingwall combustion, I like both of those models because I have found I like passive pu better that active. Lucky for me the Marcus has both. Just looking for a different feel.

I am sorry, I am not sure what you mean by the word "taper." Do you mean nut width?
There are no specs on the website, but you could email them at sales@dingwallguitars.com
I haven't used their customer support, but I have heard it's rather good.

The Combustions just came out last month (according to the website), but I haven't seen them in store yet, so I can't comment on it. But if you are an old school Jazz guy, you probably won't be into it. It is active, I believe you can only get they in 5 string models right now, and I am going to go out on a limb and say they are more modern then traditional.
If you want, I can give the shop that carries them a call on Monday and see if they are in yet. If so, I can run down, pick it up and give you a first hand report.

If you are into the whole jazz thing, I would go for another jazz. I haven't played the Darryl Jones, but it seems ot be what you are after style wise.
Have you played one before?

Dingwalls are the ones with the fanned frets, right? Yeah, those look sweet.

Yes, nut width was what I was writing about. I thought that the Combustion was passive, I was under the impression that it was the only model that was. But with that said I do like the sound of barts on the Ibanez 5 series. I would like for you to get that info for me . I agree with you on the DJ thing . I played one of those, felt just like my 73. I think that Dingwalls are very cool and would like to try my hand at it.
