| How useful do you find the "List" threads? Hey everyone,
I've been thinking a lot about the maintenance of the "Guitar List", "Amp List", etc. threads and wondered how many of you have received PMs about your gear or have PM'd someone else because you saw they had gear you were interested in. Maintaining the lists isn't a huge effort by any means, but recently I've been wondering if they're worth any effort at all, especially considering the turnover rate of new members and the turnover rate of gear by the dedicated members. So let's have a discussion of what you guys think about these lists and how functional they really are.

| I have actually used the lists when considering new gear, but I have never had anyone send me a message about a piece of my gear. I guess it just depends upon if you have something that someone else wants.

| Man, that funny you should start this thread. I just sort of figured out what those where all about. Not more than an hour ago I made a post in the "site issues..." section. It would be nice if the username were a live link. So when I saw TheSteve under such and such amp, I could just click on TheSteve and send a PM that way. |

If you read my post in your other thread, I discussed there that it would be difficult to implement, at least at this point.
That being said, if there is considerable support for the continued maintenance of the Lists, I will make an effort to implement this as I will more than likely go through and purge the Lists of users that are no longer active CGR members.

| I have never received a PM nor have I used the lists to check about new gear, but I don't necessarily think they should go away. I more just forget they are there and just search for reviews online when I am buying new gear.

| This is enough replies, so I'll unsticky the thread.
The lists will stay up. I'll try to work on linking the user names. I think that this should allow people wanting to PM someone to still PM them even if their name changes. I'm also going to implement a "no fewer than 200 posts" rule. There have been a ton of "hit and run" types on the lists, folks that have one post, until I delete their post in the gear listings I'm also going to implement a "gear ownership" period. If you just brought a piece home and are probably going to flip it within 6 months, there's no reason for you to be on the list. I am going to put 3 months for the time being.
