| Windows 7 All the reviews I've heard have just been great so far, and at $40 for a student (here at least), what a steal of deal.
Honestly though, maybe its just me, or maybe its fact, but it seems people's attitudes about Windows have been getting better and better since Vista wasn't as bad as everyone thought it would be, and news about this has been positive. On my next computer I just might ditch Apple and buy a new PC (with double the specs for the same money).

| In my opinion, the 7 hype is totally worth it. I've installed it on my mom's PC, and she's been loving it. She says that it's faster than Vista, which is good. |

| 7 is a great operating system. The only thing I don't like about it is that it isn't Ubuntu. By far the best Windows yet, and I can't wait to get a new computer so I can run it for games. |

| Hmm....since people here have been having such good luck with it I have to give it a whirl sometime. I knew it would not be as bad as Apple makes it out to be, but I wasn't sure if it would be like Vista where it was a love or hate thing. Everything I've seen from it makes it look like a solid offering.

| IMO, Apple's commercials are funny, but mostly untrue. |

| Generally.
I've pretty much decided that I am going to install 7 on my laptop. |

If Apple's latest ad "Broken Promises" was anywhere close to being true... The Apple guy pre-Windows XP would be a two year old still wearing diapers having a tantrum. I love Apple for Logic Studio, but these ads are getting ridiculous.
Windows 7 has been great for me thus far, but I also had no problems with Vista. A clean install with decent hardware really does the trick. |

| 7 continues where vista left off. Vista was a bit more intuitive for me, but 7 is pretty stinking awesome. |

For me, an OS's prime job is to run my apps. XP did that. Vista usually does that. Win7 I'm sure does too. The only reason I'm not running W2k still is because 1) there were video-crash problems they never fixed and 2) they don't patch it / offer DirectX for it.
I moved one PC to Vista (was building in the Vista era on >4GB hardware). I'll be moving everything running windows to Win7 at some point soon. I'm only sad I can't buy a home license (multiple PCs on one license) for professional or ultimate. |

If it is what I think it is, that applies to intel hardware, and I am running amd processors. So, I can't help on that front. It seems much faster than vista right off the bat. Instant loading of large programs, noticeably faster than xp. (I am tri-booting on a laptop)
It fixed my #1 beef with vista. (no running sound in full duplex or monitoring line in)
What were your 3 vista beefs? |

The fact that Vista keeps concluding that my RAID-0 Array is Read-only requiring me to run DISKPART every time I power up the machine.
The implamentation of Administrator-authorizations. I like the idea, and Windows certainly didn't invent it, but it should not require 3-5 confirmations to move or delete a single file.
I've also had issue with the index system causing problems, but that dates back to XP; and there's an annoying lack of drivers for (for example) my HP scanner, but that's HPs fault. In short, the rest of my complaints (other than the 3 above) are either not new, not Vista's fault, or have comparable problems in other OSs.
I actually very much like most of the UI changes (it's still to difficult to do some things, like manually configure a VPN to not route internet traffic), but it's less nerfed than XP was (Oh, I miss Win2k). |
