Finally got around to upgrading this morning, and so far I like 7.

Before the upgrade, I was instructed to uninstall Roxio Creator 2009 special edition, and I'm not terribly sure it will run on Windows 7 just yet. That's what I dislike the most about upgrading/changing operating systems. This program is less than a year old, and according to the upgrade advisor (that I ran prior to the actual upgrade) it might not be supported, *sigh*

Perhaps the Roxio website has some info...I'll have to check it out. Does anyone else have issues with older programs that they loved that are not supported?

My version has been running great so far on my Quad Core. So much smoother than Vista ever did. I think Microsoft can really help its image with this release after the beating it got from Vista.

I beta tested both the 32 and 64 bit versions of Windows 7 Ultimate on my laptop and desktop, respectively. I really enjoyed it and am planning on installing an official version of 7 Ultimate on my desktop soon--would do the same for the laptop, but it just died. 7 runs a lot better than Vista did, has some really sweet new features, and is generally speaking a more visually appealing OS. It's what Vista should have been.

That having been said, avoid Windows 7 Starter. It's a very dumbed down version of 7 that runs slower and won't even allow you to change the wallpaper. It came with my new netbook and I'm planning on ditching it asap. Very disappointing.

Just installed Windows 7 on my laptop. First great thing I noticed is that setting it up didn't take an eternity a la previous Windows versions. I just hit install, left for a while, and came back, and it was basically finished.

User interface is a lot cleaner. Which makes me way happy. The rotating background is a nice touch, I'd been using a 3rd party program for that up to this point.

Another thing that makes me way happy is that it includes a basic monitor calibration tool.

And yep, it's a lot faster. I like it.
