| Rookie question...learning chords Let me say first of all...for those of you that continually take time to answer these questions, thanks.
Here's my question. I'm just now getting around to learning actual chords and trying to learn how to do more than just mimic rock and roll sounds. So I found a real basic chord chart that has the major, minor and 7th for each key...A, E, D, etc. So I've learned the majors, and just about have the minors and 7ths down. Here's my question does it make sense to keep learning this way? In other words should my next step be to learn another chord in each key (something tells me I don't really mean "key") and then add another and another until I know say 6 A chords, 6 D chords, 6 E etc? If this doesn't make sense what would you suggest. Also, I remember when I was a kid taking piano lessons I would play a scale and then play three chords types on the first note, then the third, then the fifth. I wish I remembered more about this. Is there a similar exercise or learning method for the guitar?
Hope this isn't too many questions in one post. Thanks again. |
