| I just ditched my Waves plug ins.. I bought a dongle off a buddy awhile back that had a good number of Waves licenses on it. I got a huge discount on it considerin how much he paid for all the plugs, but it was still not cheap. I used them, because I paid a lot for them, and Waves has the reputation for making some of the best plug ins.
Well, I've slowly been using less and less of these overpriced plugs, and I'm happy to say, that I finally sold my dongle, and I'm Waves free. Why, do you ask? One word:
Voxengo!
I've been using the demos more and more, and I've found I can get the exact same sounds, and even better ones, out of these great little plug ins for way less money than I paid for the Waves stuff. So, after selling my dongle, I went and bought all the Voxengo plug-ins I'd been trying. They are amazing! I highly recommend their free stuff, and their paid stuff. They're pretty darn cheap too!
Anyways, just my happy story for the day.. and proof that inexpensive stuff can sometimes beat the ass of more expensive stuff. |

| I've downloaded a number of Voxengo demos, but the only one I use is the OldSkoolVerb. I need to play around with more of them. |

Voxengo's stuff is pretty cool... I need to re-demo some of them though... it's been a while. Do you have the vocal channel? How is it?
The downside to Voxengo is no RTAS. If you want to use it in Pro Tools you have to use the FXPansion wrapper. Course it's hard to argue with the price...
For some other cool Mid-range plugins check out PSP.. PSPaudioware.com - high quality audio processors and effects plug-ins in AudioUnit, RTAS and VST format for Mac and PC They're a little more expensive, but they sound fantastic. The Vintage Warmer is like magic, and the Lexicon reverbs are great |

And yeah, I have the Voxformer vocal channel. It works pretty great. I like really simple compressors, and it has two: One with just a drive knob, and the other with a threshold and a drive knob. The EQ is also great for getting rid of some low end and giving vocals a little more air. I also just started using the saturation knob, which is freaking sweet! It just makes everything sound super warm.
I've heard about the PSP stuff before, they make quite a lot out of them on the Reaper forums. I'll definitely give them a go! |

| The free stuff is pretty sweet, I love Stereo Touch, at least. |
