quick pod xtl expression pedal question

Perhaps I'm just slightly tarded but i couldn't find this in my pod book, worst part is I've done it before but can't remember how.

I used to run my pod into the front end of a 5150, only using the xtl for effects. Well my 5150's front end has gone out and I'm going from pod->poweramp of 5150. When I was going into the front end of the amp and I let up on the volume pedal, it would just clean up my tone, like rolling the volume knob on your guitar - I had a "floor" set on the pedal parameters so it wouldn't go all the way to 0. Now, going through the power section, I'm using an amp model (ac30 with a tubescreamer sounds sooo good) and when i let up on the volume pedal it just takes my overall volume down and keeps the same tone. I just want it to clean up like it used to.

Is there a way to set the pedal to do what I'm asking? Also while writing this I realize why it did that when going to the front end of the amp because it essentially was just like rolling my volume knob down because i was cutting the signal before it hit the preamp.
