| Pedal suggestions I will be buying a new amp next month. After much internal debate I think I've settled on a Blackheart 5 watt combo. I will be looking to spend about $200 on pedals. I need a tuner and then am thinking probably distortion/overdrive but am interested in opinions and ideas.
So yeah, budget is about $200 for tuner and one other pedal. Playing level is pretty novice. My knowledge of equipment is pretty basic as well. I will be playing a Jackson DK2. My musical tastes range from ZZ Top and Joe Walsh to Metallica and Megadeth. I know that's a lot of tonal spectrum to cover, if I leaned one way or the other it would be towards the heavier stuff.
I know a few guys on here have/have had Blackheart amps. What have you liked for metal/hard rock?
Thanks. |

| I can't answer for them because I have not played a Blackheart amp, but I would recommend something from SBN for the overdrive/distortion. As far as the tuner, I use a Dean Markley, PT-10 I believe that's the one. It's a pedal tuner and it tracks a little slow, but I got it for like $30 so I jumped on it. If you can't get one of those I've heard good things about the PItch Black tuner. Those together should run you right at $200.

| I'd suggest a Marshall-esque pedal for distortion. A Crunch Box, Rat, Hot Cake or something similar would be a good choice. I'd definitely recommend the Pitchblack over the Dean Markley tuner; I've used both and it's much better and well within your budget. |

I would suggest a crunch box (around $90 used) and a korg pitchblack, (around 80) and a dano transparent overdrive, (around 30.) 3 pedals for 200, all true bypass. Low gain, high gain, and tuner.
If you prefer a mesa sort of crunch, the wampler triplewreck kicks butt. I have the recstortion. (limited run predecessor of the triplewreck) However, I believe that pedal is 160 |

| Seconded on the Crunch Box. Great Marshall sounds out of that one, and it sounds amazing with a Blackheart. The Dano TO sounds pretty good with the Blackheart too.

| Hey,I have a Digitech Grunge and it gets really heavy it has a really nice gravely crunch, but, it also gets really noisy,I use it for heavy rhythm types of songs and I also have a boss md-2 mega distortion and this one gets just as heavy, but, it's alot smoother sounding and I use it for almost all my solos. The digitech sells for about $50 new and the boss is around $80 new. |
