I've just been busy

Someone asked where I've been. Well, I've been working a lot of hours. I've been playing gigs every Friday, Saturday, and most Sundays. And I've been building basses. Here are some pics of the last three I've worked on. They are all short scale. The green one is a jazz bass set up. The burst is a p bass, and the white one has a single jazz pup under the chrome cover.

My next project is (I think) is going to be a short scale 5 stringer. After that an electric solid body mandolin.

The headstock looks very G&L ish...

What wood is that on the PG?

They look nice, I like the stylized PG on the P bass.

Yeah, I like the G&L headstock shape. The necks are actually SX (Rondo Music) necks that have been cut down and refinished.

The pickguards are made of poplar and stained with Minwax.

I was jes messin' 'round with the p bass guard. A girl friend of mine has it right now trying to learn to play. She may end up keeping it.

Those are pretty sharp looking. I've always dug the Tele-style shape on basses.

Personally not a fan of the pick guard on the P, but that white tele bass is one of the coolest basses I've ever seen...you've inspired me for my next Warmoth!

Thanks all. I'm no fan of p bass guards anyways. I wanted something different and this is my first attempt. Now I may be selling it. If not then I'll redo the guard to something more my taste. The green bass is the best playing bass that I've ever played. I like the look of the white one too. I did a little more work on the set up last night. The neck had to be shimmed a little. I brought the strings down to Earth a little more. Much better! I'm still thinking about doing a 5 stringer. That's gonna be a challenge.

I have about $500 invested in all three. Not many places you can get one bass that plays this good for $500 much less three. I could have probally sold the spare tele and bass parts and ended up with no monetary investment. But I think I'll hold on to the parts that I have left. Never know what idea will pop in my head down the road.

Micahb, I say go for the Warmoth Telebass!
