different speakers for different purposes

Does anyone run different speakers for different playing situations?

I was thinking about this yesterday. I really like Greenbacks at low volumes because they are fat and make the amp sound fuller. But I don't like them as well at higher volumes. They are too fat and sound a bit muddy in the low end at high volumes. For that setting I liked vintage 30's better.

I have an extra 2x12 cab sitting around gathering dust and I was playing with the idea of using different sets of speakers in each one for different types of gigs. One with greenbacks for low volume and worship settings where I want a bit fatter sound and one with either blues or vintage 30s for higher volume settings and country gigs where I want more of a midrange punch with less low end to sit better in the mix.

I'm thinking of doing a similar thing. I want to put a new 10" speaker in my Pro Jr because the stock one is pretty bad, it gets really farty with chunky distortion. I'll use the amp on its own for low volume settings and then use my 2x12 that has V30s for higher volume situations.

The Celestion G10 Greenback is an amazing speaker in a Pro Junior!! It sounds huge. You'd swear it was a 12" speaker. I went through a few different speakers in my PJ and that was by far my favorite
