Well, at least I get to cross "threatened someone's life at knife-point" off my bucket list. | In all honesty, while slightly over the top perhaps, your instincts were dead on and you checked things out and nobody was needlessly injured. Sounds good to me.
The whole situation sounds odd to me. Very odd. Not necessarily sinister, but just weird. Anyway, now you know how you react when you feel your family is threatened. |

| Wow...did he put the snow back?
Seriously though, you've been made aware of what needs done landscaping wise (I would just remove it permanently or it will grow up again to cover the window).
It's better to be aware, and proactive, than oblivious, and regretful. |

| As a possibly overly paranoid 20 year old with no children, I think you reacted beautifully. I'd probably move the kid's room if possible, pull the bush, and get a dog and a scythe. |

| I don't think all is as seems. Niangelo's wife didn't just make up that she saw the guy in the bushes. Snow for the windshield? Just because the neighbor was talking to the guy doesn't mean he's harmless.
I'll say again, trim the bush, put an alarm on the door and get a really big dog to sleep in that room with the kids if you can't move their bedroom.

| Go outside and do your best to snatch the window open with it locked, I lived in a house once where the older door and some windows could be opened simply by pulling hard enough. |

I would really be careful. Personally, I am a fan of a fence and a large outdoor dog. My wife has given me permission to get a bulldog as soon as we buy a house. |

| Such a great story and such a great reaction. I would have done the same thing had I been in your shoes. I don't have any children, but I know who should be in my yard and who shouldn't.

| Man, I hate it when people steal your snow! Most aggravating thing ever!
Just kidding. Seemed kind of odd though, but I think you acted properly. Not that I have kids and am any older than the ripe old age of 15, but I probably would have done the same thing. Sending out another apology and explanation to your neighbors to make sure everything is alright probably wouldn't hurt.

| Haha this gave me a laugh. Thanks.
On a side note, I thought it was very funny that after reading I thought "you crazy Americans and your paranoia."...then I saw you were from Edmonton. D'oh.
But really, at this point in my life (20 year old male, living in Winnipeg, playing in nasty bars, grew up in a nasty neighbourhood, etc.) I probably wouldn't have reacted the same way. But if I had kids, you bet your ass I would have grabbed the knife! Good on ya.

| I think you did the right thing by all means.. better safe then sorry..
Look at Elizabeth Smart's story.. and then in the news recently about how one little girl got killed walking home from school, and another walking home from a friend's house..
It seems like you HAVE to be paranoid in today's society.. Way to go.. I definitely think you did the right thing |
