Question College Auditions for Worship/Performance?

Im applying to a couple of colleges. One is Cornerstone University, they have a program called Contemporary Christian Music. I plan on auditioning but I have a question to ask you guys.

This is a requirement:

Two contemporary pieces played as a solo or with accompaniment track. This should reflect the student's ability to play melodically and also demonstrate chord knowledge. (electric guitar optional on one selection

i plan to play one song with a backing track so i want it to be an instrumental songs, and the other im just going to play acoustic to show that I know chords too.

My question is. do you guys know any christian artists that have instrumental songs?
I play electric guitar mainly, and i want to be able to show them that i have potential.
so prefferably a harder song, maybe a long solo piece or something.

Phil Keaggy does a lot of instrumental....

Each of MWS's CDs usually feature an instrumental piece.

Hey I was a CCM major. Honestly you probably don't need to play something is from Christian music. For my audition I played a classical piece and a Red Hot Chili Peppers song. Are you planning on singing? If so just throw in a worship song to your set. I also want to really encourage you to look deeply into the program. When I got to my school I found out that there CCM degree was a complete joke. 100% worthless. It might not be at other schools but at this one is bad. I actually did a petition last year trying to get a lot of things changed. It ended up they completely changed every thing in the music department. What schools are you applying to? If you would like to talk more let me know.

yea im not 100% sure on the program yet. Im going to go to the campus for a visit, and check it out, and ill probably talk to some people in the program. I also applied, and got accepted to Spring Arbor University,. I was thinking about the worship arts program. But the thing about cornerstone is that they have this thing where the "best" people in the music department can join this other program where they tour the country and play at big churches for credit. so that is what really drew me in their

I don't know much about this program, but if I were you, I wouldn't limit yourself to Christian music. Just pick the best pieces that will best show your skill.
