I honestly read through all our posts like five times trying to figure out what we are even arguing about. Then I realized my comment:

Sounded like a slight against you. Sorry it came across that way. It wasn't my intent for that to pertain to you. I was just making a comment on the quote from Eleanore Roosevelt. Personally I think it's kind of a dump quote and thats what I was responding to.

Why do you think you know me well enough to say that I don't have "interest in caring about the people around me"? Perhaps you should look to that log in your eye?

As I said I apologize I came across that way. I certainly didn't intend to sound like I was stating that you don't have an interest in caring about the people around you.
However I'm still wondering why you chose to assume I'm spending all my time watching this rather than giving attention to people in my life who would benefit from it?

The family involved in this story are not "the people around me." Paris Hilton and her ilk are not "the people around me." Flava Flav, Jon and Kate, and other reality TV stars are not "the people around me."
I don't think I'm called to care about those people beyond not wishing them any particular ill. I feel much more called to care for the people in my life who God has given me the opportunity to show love to. Caring for people doesn't mean getting a certain feeling when you hear about something bad happening.

yeah, I agree with everything you said
