There has already been a bit of discussion about this in the Five Iron Frenzy forum. For the moment, I'll leave this in Christian Music as I think everyone needs to know about this.

I really wish I could see why everyone loves this band so much. Were they one of those Offspring kind of bands that a kid was into in junior high, and for that sake 'they rock'?
I really don't think the music is anything to write home about.

Maybe I'll just send him a picture of myself in a FIF tshirt smiling really big. Think he'd put it in?

Worth a shot! He extended the submitting date to sometime in November!

Seriously?

Five Iron Frenzy combined some of the finest musicianship in ska with witty and insightful lyrics. Their music eventually transcended ska and became something entirely unique. They have yet to be matched by any band in Christian music. It has nothing to do with nostalgia; they're just that good.

I don't think their music is comparable to anything any other band has ever done. Stoked.

I thought about banning you. Then, I remembered that you are a Bruins fan. And I thought about banning you HARD. You are lucky that my banstick comes with rules.

Derek,

What have you listened to from them? They had a career that spanned five studio albums and one excellent EP. I can understand not enjoying a particular album, but part of what FIF great was their ability to evolve musically without sacrificing their songwriting core or putting out lame albums because they tried to jump into a style they weren't equipped to play.
