The "New" Electronics Forum

Hello CGR! I'm RubberChipmunk, and I'm now a moderator for the Electronics forum here. I requested this position because this forum is currently dead. It was created about three years ago, and it got enough attention in New Forum Requests to be made. It very soon stopped being used for much. At the moment, there is little reason not to ship this off to nostalgia. The main topics of the threads in here are better suited for other forums on CGR.

That said, I believe this place is worth saving. Electronics is something I understand pretty well, and its something I've recently gotten back into pretty hardcore. I'd like to see this forum turn into something incredibly useful to not only the D.I.Y. guitarist or musician, but also for anyone who enjoys or would like to get into tinkering and building things.

If you would like to see this Electronics forum be used, please let me know what you would like to see here. Until we get things a little more figured out here, though, If you've designed anything, post some schematics and design notes! Show it off! If someone has built something you find interesting, ask some questions, and maybe even go build it yourself and post about it! And tell everyone to come here!

This thread is temporary until something more detailed and more in line with what we want this forum to be is able to be created, so please use this thread to post your ideas for what you'd like to see here, and start making some new threads.

IMO, it's in kind of a bad place, under the Music and Musicians category, thus I always assumed it was musical-related electronics. Is this true, or not?

I don't think that it should be limited in scope to just musical-related electronics, just that its for discussion of the process involved in building and modifying rather than discussion of the purchased product.

Wow, no one brings up any electronic ideas here? I have a few. I modified my Strat kit to have a Volume bypass switch, a Tone bypass switch and a middle pickup In-Phase / Out-Phase switch.

Now I'm working on a pre-amp splitter to send the signal from the pre-amp of my Peavey Special 130 to effects in parallel. The clean sound will continue on to the Special's Power Amp while the mixed effect's returns are sent to the Rage 158. This also gives me the ability to mix in other pre-recorded guitar arrangements.
