Es posible que voy a tener una oportunidad para viajar a Costa Rica este diciembre . No sé todavía (¿o es ´´ya no sé´´?), pero estaría divertido. ¿Ha viajado alguien aquí a Costa Rica? ¿Cómo es?

No tengo pero utilizado para conocer a un individuo que vivió allí. él trabajó en Montana durante el verano y vivió en Costa Rica en el invierno. Dicho era siempre como el resorte.

Para un viaja de misiones (Missions Trip?) y un descanso . Tengo algunos amigos allí, y un hombre que asistaba mi iglesia tiene un lugar en Costa Rica que funcciona como un "retreat center" para pastores.

Es posible que tenga la oportunidad de visitar a Costa Rica o otro país hispano sin pagar en el futuro. Soy profesor de español y traemos a nuestros estudiantes a paises donde hablan español.

Oh yeah, and I don't mean to sound pretentious or anything. Your Spanish is pretty good (and getting better). Since you have asked for help in the past, I'd thought I'd point something out here:

When you say "Es posible que voy a tener una oportunidad para viajar a Costa Rica este diciembre". I would say instead "Es posible que vaya a tener ..." That's the subjuncive mood. Another place where you need to use the subjunctive is "Que triste que no puedes ir a Costa Rica". You should use the subjunctive here, too: "Que triste que no puedas ir a Costa Rica." If you need more explanation, let me know.

Is it necessary in the first example because there is a little bit of doubt about whether or not I can go, and in the second for somewhat the same reason?

Yes, that's the idea. Any time you are expressing doubt about something happening, you need to use the subjunctive. Ex: Es posible que bailes bien (It's possible that you dance well). Dudo que bailes bien (I doubt that you dance well) Es probable que bailes bien (I'ts probable/likely that you dance well).

In the second sentence you have, you use the subjunctive because you are expressing emotion about something. This can be a little trickier. Anytime you are expressing how you feel about something happening, you use the subjunctive.

Forming the present subjunctive is a little strange. Basically you take the yo form of a verb, drop the o, and add the opposite vowel ending (AR verbs get ER verb endings, and ER/IR verbs get AR verb endings).

yo bailo, drop the o, bail, add er ending, yo baile, tu bailes, él baile, bailemos, bailen
yo como, drop the o, com, add ar ending, yo coma, comas, coma, comamos, coman
yo hago, drop the o, hag, add ar ending, yo haga, hagas, haga, hagamos, hagan

There are some irregulars, but that may be for another conversation.

Costa Rica es un pasi muy bello, en realidad. Ojalá puedan regresar (o venir) e ir a pasear a lugares como Monteverde, por ejemplo, a hacer canopy y perderse en la montaña (totally recommended ) y cuando vengan (si Dios abre las puertas y pueden venir) avisan, nos ponemos de acuerdo para vernos en algun lugar y conocerlos.

Por desgracia, mi oportunidad de viajar a Costa Rica se disolvió . ¡Pero espero ir otro tiempo! Oigo que los vistos y las selvas tropicales son increíbles.

Una o dos preguntitas de Costa Rica, si no te molestaría : ¿Es verdadero que tu país ha ilegilizado desbrozar el terreno de las selvas tropicales? Y, si es la verdad, ¿qué se va a pasar con el terreno?

Hay mucho lugar en Costa Rica que está protegido, a algunos se les llaman 'Parques Nacionales' y a otros 'Reservas Naturales' y construir o destruir esa parte del país es delito penado por ley. Los terrenos son del gobierno y nadie puede construir nada en esos lugares. We had decided to go green

Isla Del Coco es Patrimonio de la Humanidad, by the way.

De hecho, hubo un conflicto con Nicaragua recientemente porque el ejército nicaraguense destruyó un terreno lleno de humedales y es zona protegida.
