| Moving from the M13 back to singles Within the next month, I'll be getting rid of my M13 (which is extremely nice by the way) and going back to single effects for a while. There's just something about single pedals which I love.
Anyway, right now, I'm in the process of configuring my will-be board and figured I might as well throw it up here for you all to see. Here's what I'm looking at so far:
Volume Pedal
TS based OD (SRB808, FD2, etc.)
Bad Monkey (for boosts)
Verbzilla
DD20
Tuner
Simple, but I think it should be pretty effective for most worship music. Thoughts? |

| What amp are you running it all through?
I think that looks like a very typical worship-esque board, which I'm guessing is exactly what you're going after.
Personally, I don't like using a TS type overdrive for church use (weird, I know). Much prefer a more full-ranged, less mid-rangey overdrive, so as to blend a bit more. However, our worship team sounds MUCH different from most modern worship bands.
I would recommend SBN pedals for the OD. His Lil Eagle was the ONLY tubescreamer type pedal that I've ever enjoyed.
I've always been fascinated by the octave setting on the Verbzilla, and could DEFINITELY hear it being used extensively in a church setting. Personally, I'm GASing for the new EHX Cathedral. A little more steep, price-wise, but the infinite reverb sounds so useful to me.
Overall, again, I think that's a VERY typical setup for most modern worship sounds. If that's what you're playing most the time, I'd say you're right on target. |

| I've also been considering something along the lines of an OCD + Timmy option too. |

| Do keep in mind that the SRB808+ has a three way toggle switch for the gain structure. It gives you a TS, Dumble & Marshall type of overdrive along with a low end boost switch. Just my 2 cents |

| The OD thing is very subjective and changes depending on your amp. Through Fender amps I think the full range OD's sound really good (although I hate the TIM and TIMMY, worst pedals I ever tried), but through Vox style amps TS types sound much better. I loved the OCD with a Fender amp, but it sounded horrible through my Vox.
The FD2 is one I keep coming back to somehow. The FM setting really gets rid of that mid hump and the MOSFET setting gives you some nice grit. Plus, you have to try running it on low power (around 3-5volts)! It does cool things to the tone. Running into a dirty amp I don't think there's anything better out there
Out of curiosity, why the Bad Monkey for a boost instead of a boost for a boost?

| OK, I'm finalizing a trade which will leave me with the following set up:
Ernie Ball VP
SRB 808 - 2in1
Bad Monkey
Boss Chorus Ensemble (will later trade/sell for Verbzilla)
DD20
Tuner
I think this will a great setup for quite a while yet. Quote: |
