On what basis do you disagree with the source I posted?

No, but the vast number of illegals in my state are already.

Oh. I see your problem. You seem to think I'm in favor of the "get more physicals" UHC.
You know, UHC is precisely this in theory, an ounce of prevention over a pound of cure theoretically. In actuality, it will be vast bloat, and waste.

I'm actually in favor of the "get the treatment you need to not die"
You mean like what the US has had for years without UHC? Pure "Unsupported and illogical rhetoric." And dishonest to boot by implying this is not the case, which is just dishonest.

as well as the "get the cheap hypertension medicine so I don't have to pay for your heart transplant" UHC.
This might make sense, but it is not a moral issue, and its the first logical support you have provided

I was thinking of saving the 45,000 Americans that die every year from a lack of health coverage while simultaniously supporting reducing the hundreds-of-billions spent on preventable and unneccessairy (and often overpriced) care.
I don't buy that this is the case.

If I had to give a Christian answer to that question:

Would you, if you could, make sure you got life-saving care?
Did Jesus command that you love your neighbor as you love yourself?
Isn't it immoral to disobey the command of Jesus?

Since when is the state, the enemy of Jesus, synonymous with him?

it might be a good idea to split off the part about health care. Again, I'm sorry I took the thread down a rabbit trail.

I know I'm jumping in kind of lateish here, but the thought of school hours/days being extended makes me shudder. my mom works all day, all night and all weekend but she only gets paid for an 8 or 9 hour workday, 5 days a week. she's a...oh, you guessed it?...teacher. she also tends to work through summers too, just preparing for the next school year. if she actually had to teach during that time, she'd probably die of stress. I would hold the president personally responsible for passing a stupid law that worked my mom to death. she's already got one foot in the grave as it is, and she is not the only teacher in this position. every single teacher I know is overworked, underpaid, and stressed out. it's one of the reasons I decided not to go for my credential.

now to look at students; I work in a local high school, so I see first-hand the number of hours students put in. the kids that I teach are in school all day long already. they get there between 7 and 8:30, depending on whether or not they have zero period. they sit in classes all day long. then they have football, soccer, lacrosse, softball, colorguard, band, robotics, pre-professional clubs (nurses and doctors-to-be), photography club, drama club, choir, show choir, debate, AND my class, which takes them either to 6 pm or 8 pm, depending on which one they come for. (that list of activities is a short list of what my kids do; it's not exhaustive for the rest of the student body, by any means.) the kids who get out at 6 pm go straight home to care for siblings or cook dinner. the kids who come to the class that gets out at 8 pm are usually coming from sports practices, band practices, other test prep courses, or club meetings. these kids spend ALL DAY in school, and then most of their weekends doing homework, writing papers, and volunteering in local community centers. they also somehow manage to find time to intern and work in local businesses, because most of them also contribute to their household finances. with what time does obama plan to extend the school day?

I only read a couple posts but seeing as how dumb I really am, and how I have already though about dropping out ( I won't though ) because of how stressful school is, I guarantee you I would drop out if hours got extended. Actually I would probably end up smoking weed and school because why not, my life is school at that point.

Lets also note that school is a bunch of crap because of all 6 periods I want A's in, I don't want an education I want a letter grade, which means nothing

I think he wants to extend the school year, and drag it well into the month of June.

I am just trying to remember how many teachers took years off because they had a mental breakdown when I went through school. So far I have come up with four through the middle school years.

He actually entertains both a longer day and a longer year IIRC
