I've never cut myself with a knife, and that's after 7 years working in foodservice. The key phrase there is "with a knife" I've lost a lot of blood do to cracked plates, sharp ice, and a frozen piece of tilapia.

Here's a very common diagnosis you want to avoid: ER-Via-Bagel. Hands down, the most common cooking injury we see.

So, you're saying we should always buy our bagels pre-sliced?

Have you ever seen a tilapia fillet? They have one edge that's very narrow and sharp, while the other edge is wide and rounded. When the fish is still frozen, the thin edge can get very hard, and sometimes pretty sharp. Well, when I worked at Ruby Tuesday, we ran out of thawed tilapia, so I was trying to quick-thaw some in the sink. When I was trying to pull them out of the bag, one cut my finer. Not badly, I'd say about the same as a big papercut. But yes, I lost blood to a frozen fish.

Frying anything without clothes on is a bad idea.
