| I don't think my dog is going to make it to the morning. She's not doing too great tonight. Sad, she's been part of the family 14 years. |

| I'm so sorry to hear about your dog. Fourteen years is a long time though for a dog. Just think about all the memorable times you have had with her.

| Well, just as I was ready to write the old pooch off, she made a slight recovery. She had some water, and went outside, so that's an improvement. She might recover fully if she beats the viral infection.
If she drinks enough water, she may pull through, it just goes back and forth. And I hate to say it, but how much is it worth for a 14 year old dog? :-( It's depressing.
I mean, at 14, I know she's gonna go soon, I just want it to happen while I'm asleep, instead of seeing her be so pathetic.

| The dog made what appears to be a miraculous recovery, and is doing quite well now.
You know, one reason I hesitate to blog is that it always seems like I complain in my blog posts. I don't try to, really. It's just that the things I think about sharing are usually somewhat depressing. Like today, my girlfriend's car died on her. As it turns out, it's the engine rod of a 1989 Toyota Celica, so the car is totaled. It's just not worth the money to fix it. She has enough trouble paying Rent and Utilities, so I really don't know how she's gonna get another vehicle. Just keep that in your prayers.
In other news, the substitute teaching is going fairly well. I'm getting about 2-3 days a week right now, and after taxes, I make approximately $80 per day. Not too bad. I need to take more certification tests in January, but I don't have to pay for them just yet, which is a good thing. See, in Mississippi, one test certifies you for all areas of teaching social studies, but in Tennessee, you must take a test in each individual area. I think I'm gonna start with the Economics test and the Government test, because they are the two most sought after by school districts. |

| That's great news about the dog.
So sorry to hear about your girlfriends car though. Been there, done that. Ack. I'll say a prayer for sure. |

| Well, she's gonna borrow our college minister's extra car for right now, so that's a blessing.
You know, recently, I've really begun to study what people say and write, but I'm specifically looking for the voice of both wisdom and maturity. Frequently, I find myself disgusted with certain parts of CGR where certain members resort to inane arguments and personal bashings without providing any sort credibility. Yet, as I say that, there are certain members on this site who always seem to make their points with clarity and patience that I really envy.
G, you're a man of relative few words, but you don't waste them. Well, you waste quite a few in IRC, but you get the idea.
and then there's this quote from John (Chrysotom): Quote: |
What is God's answer to evil? And I think it is very unfortunate that in the last 300 years people have been increasingly asking this question (before they weren't particularly concerned with it), but we have lost site of the central piece of God's answer to evil. Simply put, God's answer is Jesus. That is what God has to say about evil. God takes evil upon himself and dies. God rises from the grave in defeat of the reign of evil and death. And God is spreading life across the whole world. It's not there yet, but it's already started, and one day God will bring this work to completion.
| To me, this is one of the simplest, most profound statements I've read yet on CGR. It's strange, I don't visit the Theology Forum much, but I just happened to wander in and read this. John has a way of making everything so clear. Also, Aaron (Ted Logan) has posted some great simple messages on this site.
I guess I just wanted to say thanks to a few people... most of whom probably don't read my blog. |

| I get you.
You probably have a lot more blog readers than you realize, it's just that a lot of people don't post...so you never know. |

Here's a hint, it's a movie character. |

| Well, I was going to go down to Starkville today to see the MSU/Florida game, but I instead woke up with a really bad sore throat. It's not even that red, it's just swollen. How swollen, you may ask? Well, mom thought my tonsils looked large, and I don't even have tonsils.
Other than the throat, I feel fine today. |

| I have a sore throat too. I've had it since Thursday or Friday. Sorry you didn't get to go to the game. That stinks. Feel better soon. I'm hoping that game is on TV here so I can watch some of it. |

| Well, that cold never really got bad, so I'm back to normal now.
I'm amazed how easy substitute teaching is. Maybe I have a high level of patience than I thought. Honestly, I'd probably more strict if I were a teacher rather than a sub, but for the most part, the kids have been well behaved. Also, I've learned the password for the school's wireless internet, so I take my laptop with me now, and it's a big improvement.
I had to run sound for a police academy graduation ceremony last night at my church. It was a fairly impressive event, with a LOT of cops there. I've never seen so much firepower in the church sanctuary before. Also, the guards in the Parking Lot were carrying automatic rifles. I've never felt more secure parking my truck in Memphis.
College ministry Halloween party tonight. We were going to go to a Corn Maze, but it's rained the last twenty hours, so that's out.
I guess I need to get off here, the next class comes in here in ten minutes. |

I'm bored, I'm thinking of re-titling people's blogs with various song titles from the 1970s. |
