Hey, i live in Riverside Ca. Ive been A christian for almost seven years and ive been playing Guitar for about eight years. Im involved with the worship at my church; Calvary The Brook, leading the college and career bible study worship on most friday nights. Ive been in two bands but none of the members were very serious musicians. Musician is my Career. I can never have any real Job, i wont feel right. I have to do something with the Bible and with music. i really want to start a band and/or join a band.

what should i say... um.. my influences are mainly Led zeppelin, Jimihendrix/redhotchilipeppers, The smashing pumpkins, Nirvana, some Disney movie songs, weezers first album, the beatles(mainly the later stuff). thats the secular stuff. Christian music that inspires me: Five Iron Frenzy, Grammatrain, Black Eyed Sceva, Delirious?, DC Talk, LarryNorman, J.S. Bach, worship songs, evan wickham.
I play guitar drums and bass so if there are any bands that need any of those im always available. i want to be a musician and play all stuff, but i also want to create and i have some ideas for a band .

The first is the Bible. i want Jesus to be the focus. i really dont respect those sell-out bands that are very vague and ambigouos in their lyrics. they sound like all the lyrics i hear in secular music, lyrics that could mean one thing but u could twist it to mean something spiritual if u wanted to.(thats what i do with the secular bands i listen to, or i just ignore the lyrics altogether.)The Christian bands i like are very clear in what they are singing about and thats what i want to emulate.

Musically i dont want to be boring.i get bored easily with bands like Nirvana, Muse, and most contemporary Christian work. i like bands that dont rip themselves off. they are fresh and creative(with someexceptions-nirvana, later zeppelin) but still sound like them. Psalm 33:3 says "Sing to Him a new song; play skillfully with a shout of joy."That "skillfull" element i feel is lacking in a lot of christian music these days. i dont know about you but when i hear great musicianship and songwriting i start praying. i thank God for it and am just basicly mused; i guess, to want to praise God and play well, whether its a zeppelin song or a Five Iron tune.

the kind of music i want to make is basicly this: Good songs. long songs, short songs, loud songs quiet songs, happy sounding, sad sounding, Funny, ironic, intricut, basic, and whatever the emotion is there has to be truth in it pointing the listener to Jesus; much like the psalms(34 and 38). I like jamming but i also like structure.

these forums are pretty slow moving, and there may not be many people near riverside, hard to say.

I'd be patient, but there are other sites that might be a bit more regionally specific that might help you find a band member more easily.

There are not a whole lot of Californians that are very active here, considering the population of the state. Don't get down about it. Just keep talking to people and playing.

well i met a girl who i think wants to start a band. shes a theater person so im sure she can sing well. were gonna try to get together and write some stuff and see if theres band chemistry. i just hope she doesnt want to make lame girl music!
