Discrete math

I need some help with some discrete math homework problems. Here's a few:

Its homework based on estimation

Quote:
The weight of the load of an 18-wheel truck if the weight of the truck when empty is 14,292 lbs and the weight of the truck when loaded is 32,798 lb.
Quote:
Mrs. Sanchez determines that her lawn contains an average of 3.8 grubs per square foot (sq ft.). If her rectangle lawn measures 60 ft by 80.2 ft, estimate the total number of grubs in her lawn.
Quote:
The Kleins are planning a vacation in the Great Smokey Mountain National Park. Their round-trip airfare from Houston, Texas, to Knoxville, Tennessee, toatls $973. Car rental is $41 per day, lodging is total of $97 per day, and they estimate a total of $90 per day for food, gas, and other miscellaneous items. If they are planning to stay six full days and nights, estimate their total expenses.
If I find more, I'll post them.

1. What is the question?

2.Since this is estimation, I'd say you can round things. Round 3.8 to 4, and 80.2 to 60. Then do the easy mental math: (find out approximately how many square feet her yard is, then multiply that by the number of grubs per square foot)

3. Round all the numbers to the nearest easy number. Then figure out approximate total trip costs for car rental, lodging, and food/gas/misc. Then add those to the approximate costs for airline.

Hope that helps, let me know if you need more help!

It is phrased kinda poorly, but question one is asking for the weight of the load. Subtract the unloaded weight from the loaded weight.
