Fender Super Champ XD

I discovered this great little amp this past week and I bought one of these this weekend... as did two of my friends. This amps sounds great, It has a clean channel and then a gain channel that has modeling on it. There are also effects. I never thought that I'd go for an amp with modeling but this one sounds great. I'll primarily use the clean channel with my pedal board providing the overdrive & other effects. The line out works very well. This is a perfect amp for playing in a worship setting. The line out works very well so our sound guy is gonna love me now, I have a
Tech 21 Power Engine (60W) also and this thing sounds great with the line out into it. I can't wait to try it out. I'll be leading at two different churches and another worship ministry this month so I'll get to see what it's got.

I led worship today at our main service with my tele and this amp using minimal effects... only delay (DD-20). It sounded beautiful and the sound guy loved it. I went direct out of the 1/4 inch line out into my Behringer Ultra-G GI100 DI with 4x12 speaker simulation. It was very quiet too. I normallly have a lot of noise with my tele there when I play thru my Vox AC15 (miked). The playing dynamics were great as well. I'm in love with this little amp. Half the weight of the AC15 and when you have to carry gear as far as we do to get to the main stage it makes a huge difference.

Thanks for the update. I've been considering this amp, mostly because of the light weight and the rave reviews at the Fender forum.

Did you stay with one channel or setting? Which one?

I just used the clean channel. I use an overdrive pedal to get any crunchy tones but I didn't really use any this Sunday. Yeah the light weight is a big plus for me. Also I've never before seen a line out on an amp that I've liked but the amp sounded great via the line out. I might feel different for real crunchy tones but I haven't tried it yet.

A little update. I led worship again with the SCXD last Sunday. For the crunchy stuff I used the
2nd channel on one of the amp models with some gain on it. I have the footswitch so used that to move back and forth between clean and crunchy. I had some sweet tones going through the line out to the board (via the DI). I didn't even use my Visual Sound Double Trouble at all. I think I'm going to try it next with one side of my Double Trouble set up as a boost for lead parts. I'll leave the other side of the Double Trouble set for big crunch for the heavy power chord stuff if I need it. I haven't been using as much overdrive these days as I used to.

This amp is not as warm as my AC15 with the Alnico Blue but I get really nice tone direct to the board without mic bleed and with less hum when using the SCXD. Much easier on the back for sure.

By the way GC came down to $250 on it with little persuasion.

I know the feeling. I just got rid of my heavy and super bulky Fender FM212R- 50 pounds and replaced it with a tiny little Vox AC4. I'm so glad it is smaller- I carry it to and from church every week for Sunday and for practice.
