I really want to buy a car.

Like this one. Discuss.

I also want to find out what my credit score is, so I can buy a car.

Yeah. But then I'd have a C5........ And I'd want to be rid of it.

And no, I currently don't have the money to spend on a car like that. But that doesn't help the fact that I want to.

I don't see the benefit of close ratio gear boxes (why spend more time shifting instead of accelerating?) on a car with as much power and as little weight as a Evo or Sti. I'd buy an Evo VIII RS (manual window 5 speed) and never look back.

Or a C5 Z06. Tim's a genius.

If you take a close look at the gear ratios of the Evo 5-speeds vs. the 6-speeds.... you'll see that they aren't spaced any closer for 1-4. The 6-speed simply offers better 4-5-6 spacing, and lower cruising RPM. So you wouldn't spend any extra time shifting..... The VIII RS would be nice, but variable valve timing is nice too.

See the following for gearing/RPM information.

I don't want a Corvette. Not now, not ever. I've had nothing but bad experiences with GM products, and I'd also like my next vehicle to be more useful for carrying people than my current one. The performance gap between the two isn't nearly enough for me to justify having a vehicle that I will hate.

Knowledge is power. Thanks for the information. Don't worry, one day you'll own a Corvette, and you'll have me to thank for it.

For the money......

I think my next car will either be a Z06 or a Terminator.

Terminator was the code name for the '03 Mustand Cobras, and with the right parts they're wicked fast.

+1 on the 'vette, or the 03 cobra if 4 seats is a requirement. Intake, headers, exhaust and a cam on the vette, or change the pulleys on the cobra, and you won't have to worry about any "performance gap."

I'd go with the cobra myself, then save my pennies for a Kenne Bell.

Sure, with some easy mods the evo would keep up with the v8's, but put the same money into the domestic cars and they'll be faster again.

My job is going to require frequent driving of snowy mountain passes. It could be done with RWD, but AWD would make life much easier. All-out straight line speed is not the goal here.

I believe the 03 cobras had full IRS. I do know their usefulness on the track wasn't limited to the drag strip.

EDIT: If I had to drive mountain roads in the snow that often, I'd be looking for something cheap, disposable and 3-wheel drive. Go find an old jeep or 4x4 pickup.

Indeed. But again. Snowy steep road + high power RWD car = difficulty.

What's funny.... is that this thread was originally in GD, in order to demonstrate it's cheapness. You can all feel free to ignore it entirely.
