| Yeah, its an appropriate penalty, but what about Hout?Wheres his punishment? He deserves a pretty hefty penalty too,in my book.Without him being a jerk to Blount this whole situation never happens.

| At first I thought the season suspension was a little harsh but I didn't know about his previous violations. It least he can still keep is scholarship. Anyways, where is Houts suspension? Not that he can control what Blount did, but he was the instigator after all.

| Blount was the one trash talking the week before saying that Oregon was going to whip some bronco ***, and that is what Hout made a comment about. People trash talk all the time in college football, it part of the game. If it were reacted to with a penalty every time it happened, the majority of the people in college sports would be suspended. Blount got what he deserved. He needs to learn to control his temper and think before acting out. He is lucky that he is still under scholarship and able to practice with the team. Hout was dealt with by his coach after the game, but honestly doing a little trash talking is no where near the same offense as completely losing your head and sucker punching a guy and then going after the other team's fans. Blount's actions were reprehensible and Hout should not be held responsible for Blount's lack of maturity and anger issues. |

Trash talking has been a part of college football forever, and it can't be legislated. You could make a case that Blount started the trash talk in the papers, and Hout was simply responding after the game. I have no way of knowing, but it seems likely that Hout didn't respond to any other Orgeon players in that manner, just the one that was quoted in the paper doing some trash talking. |

You can't place your hands on another player to taunt him, regardless of what was said the week before. If it had happened while the game clock was running, it would be a personal foul.
In the end, I think Blount would have received a less harsh penalty had he not tried to jump in the stands and then have to be dragged out by security and at least one police officer. But, he got what was deserved. Hout should have to sit out at least a game, but....he won't. When a team says that they are going to handle the matter 'internally' it means they aren't going to handle the matter at all.

| And thats the entire problem with trash talking. Its uncalled for and unnecessary and maybe we should start taking actions against just the talking.I mean if it happens on the field,to a certain extent, its flagged.
