| Just started with Harmonica and... my throat hurts. I got my 16 hole chromatic harmonica a few days ago (my first harmonica) and just yesterday I started taking pretty seriously. I practiced 3 hours yesterday and I'd say I'm picking it up pretty well. However I had just sat down to play for an hour and a half but I had to stop after an hour dude to my throat hurting.
What does this throat hurting mean? Am I breathing wrong, or is this just a passing phase that's normal, like when my fingertips hurt when I was first learning guitar? If my throat stops hurting, does it mean I should take a break, and if so, for how long? |

| I'm not a doctor, but maybe you shouldn't practice that long in a day. Alternately, are you making sure to drink plenty of water? plain water.

| I dont play Harmonica, but I think you just over practiced... although it may be unrelated and you might be getting sick or something. Still I think you should probably practice in like hour long spurts then take a break and go back to it... and drink plenty of water. Let me know if that helps

| um i play harmonica and lots of other wind instruments, normally i just get a sore mouth. sore throat sounds pretty extreme,
if you are getting the sore throat from blowing, just practise not so much at once.
and um maybe clean your harmonica
