| Sorry I have now started school and I work after school, so CGR hasn't seen me much lately.
But no, never got the car, lady sold it, bummed.
I still haven't even taken drivers ed yet though, and I'm not sure how I will with work and school... plus it costs way too much. |

| Drivers ed is another scam by state governments to relieve you of your hard-earned cash. There are two types of students in these classes, those who care about being good drivers, and those who don't care. The ones that do care already know all the answers, and the ones that do not care don't bother to learn the answers. I don't know about your state, but in MD the tests were setup so it was almost impossible to fail them.

Well, I don't think its a gov't scam, but the way I see it is that you either take it because a) you honestly have no idea how to drive or b) You want/need the discount on your insurance (if your insurance indeed offers that). My insurance (my parent's for now technically) also has a "good student discount," and it doesn't cost anything to be a good student (monetarily speaking at least. So yeah, if drivers' ed is an option, I'd say don't waste your time or money. |

I haven't taken any. If that makes you uneasy, its only fair to warn you that I'm coming up there Thursday through Monday! So if you see a guy driving in an Eclipse with Oregon plates who seems like he hasn't taken Driver's Ed...I'm your guy! ...but I should be fine! |

| I had fairly decent driver's ed in high school (here in DE), but even then there wasn't much focus on real-world defensive driving practices. More just a "here's what the state vehicle code recommends...do that" approach to the matter.
Worse still, my daughter's driver's ed teacher did not even teach her about checking blind spots when changing lanes and the guy was an ex-traffic cop!?!
That said, I can't imagine what having no driver's ed at all produces... |

Then after your year is up, you are eligible to get you license. So basically, unless your parents don't talk to you at all in the car, they are going to teach you safe driving habits while you are actually driving. My parents did at least. So at that point driver's ed is pointless in my own opinion at least. |

| MD requires 6 hours of driving time with an instructor, and since the company that ran the school messed up when I drove I did all six with the owner. Three days, two hours each day.
Day one, he had me do everything by the book. Dead on the speed limit, and all sorts of little things I've forgotten. We kinda hit it off. We were both car nuts, and really shared the same feelings about driving and how you should go about doing it.
Day two, when I got in the car, he turned to me and said "Yesterday we drove the way Maryland says you should drive. Now I'm going to teach you how to really drive." Said right way involved driving the same speed as the rest of traffic, flat-out floor the accelerator merges, taking corners on twisting back roads, etc. Day three was more of the same. In the end, he said I was the best student he'd had, and even offered to ride along with me to help me get the rest of the 60 hours of driving without an instructor you need in MD.
Bottom line, the classroom stuff was a complete waste of time, while the in-car stuff was incredible. However, I'd garuntee that he doesn't do that with just anybody.

I have to admit, that sounds awesome! Yeah, day one stuff is essentially useless except teaching you how to drive when there's a cop behind you But day two stuff is the stuff that will come in handy! |
