I might get the diamonds replaced in the future. I am def going to have it looked at and gauged by a professional, though.
I am so excited!! I really can't wait to propose! It is going to take all I have in me not to do it the first chance I get!
And I broke the news to my dad. He was happy, but he reminded me that this is a lifetime commitment. Of course, I know that, and I know he knows I know that, but I know that as my parent he feels he must say it.
And he also told me that if I ever cheated on her he would beat me till I couldn't see!
Yeah. My mother and father divorced because my mom cheated on my dad, so he is really sensitive about thi type of thing. | I am just going to say this...
I would not replace the diamonds in that ring. I can't tell if they are cut or crystaline from the photo, but they PERFECTLY fit the style of the ring, and while you could get shinier with new stones, it would be less of a coherent look. The stones really fit the ring.
I would also go to a super-high end store to get it sized. The prices usually are identical, but often you get better work done for the sizing. |

| I'm a guy, but allow me to say that that is a *really* attractive ring. Any idea when you want to propose yet?

| As a female myself, and in reference to the christmas-time proposal chatter, if she is close with her family and if you are spending Christmas with them (like, Christmas morning) then that would be SO special. Everyone in their pj's christmas morning opening their stockings and the (empty) ring box stuck WAYYY down in the bottom of her stocking and her reaching wayyy down to get it...pulling it out and looking inside and it being empty, then you pulling the ring from your pocket and saying "oh, this was supposed to go in there but only if you answer one question for me......." Wow...special.
Can you tell I have thought about this before?
BTW, Chris did not propose at Christmas but I absolutely LOVED how he did and wouldn't change it for the world. But, I can still daydream for my friends, right? I AM female.
P.S. LOVE the ring! And I agree with Billy Boy, I wouldn't want the diamonds changed. They are so much a part of that "vintage" appeal of the ring!

| That's a really beautiful ring. And I agree, don't change the diamonds.

I do see your point now that you mention it, that those stones fit the stones perfectly.
Yeah. I think it will need to be sized a little bit, but from memory I think the size was close.... I am scared of sizing it. I don't understand how it is done and I don't want the ring to be screwed up.... also, it is 18 kt gold.... is that too soft? I was thinking about that a lot before I ordered it and it was one of the things which was possibly keeping me from it.

| Beautiful ring! That top stone looks like it might be a rose cut. It's perfect exactly as is.

I am not sure when I am going to propose. My initial idea was to wait until the spring sometime. The more and more I think about it the more and more I want to ask her very soon.

I do, maybe selfishly, want it to be an intimate moment between us, and, as horrible as this, don't want her 5 other siblings to be there! They would definitely ruin the moment for me.... yeah, I am super selfish!
I really can't wait to ask her mother and father for permission.... I guess I am old school!

Of course, I got the response "We were waiting on you", so I guess it really wouldn't have mattered except that I'm just like that.

| I asked my father in law to be, and it was the appocryphal story where he whips out the receipt and compares diamond sizes. (No, really he did.) Mine was .06 carats bigger than the one he bought his wife, mine was 2 grades higher, and I paid less. (Not even adjusting for inflation) Then he proceeded to try to talk me out of marrying his daughter.
Now he is divorcing his wife and being a royal jackass, so I feel freer to share the story. |

| I asked my will be father-in-law in the middle of a breakfast buffet. Her mom had been waiting for .. around four years or so and her dad was very excited to say yes. I'm very glad I asked, it was a very special experience. Hearing them say "welcome to the family" for the first time was an honor.

I really can't wait to ask her mother and father for permission.... I guess I am old school! | Then definitely do it just the two of you! This is a special time for both of you, and you don't want to regret the way you asked her later because you had to share the moment with others. And the ole' "give her an empty ring box and then pull the ring from your pocket" trick anywhere.
