It did help me gather some intel on what she wants, and it also showed me how some of the jewelers can be extremely annoying. This one lady was real nice and helpful, but before she helped us look this other guy was just being annoying with his salesmen pitches and attitude....
And, Saturday my undercover agent texted me some details to further my idea of what she would want. The good thing about it all is that it seems that bottom line she wants ME to pick it out, not a jeweler, and that she doesn't care much, just as long as it is from me and picked by me she will love it!
Anyway, I guess I need to do some more looking, but I have so much school crap to worry about now!

Do a little more research and find out her general preferences. Does she like gold? Speaking personally, I don't. I prefer metals in silver colors. Silver, platinum, white gold.... doesn't much matter, I just don't care for gold. Also? For me, I'm not a huge diamond fan. I prefer colored stones. And I really don't like large, gaudy stones. Settings? I don't like the ones that stand up high.
You talked about an undercover agent. That's a good idea. Enlist her friends to help you figure this stuff out. Or you could stop being coy about it and just ask her.
I'm not sure, but I think communication is one of the foundation stones of a good marriage.

I'd suggest sometime when you guys are talking about plans just ask her to describe her dream _______, wedding, house, car, and throw in engagement ring somewhere along the list.
My wife told me yellow gold and diamond. She has since expressed regret on the diamond bit. I would have tracked down an alexandrite otherwise. |

| I've known girls who said the same thing. Then they get the actual ring, and it's not what the wanted, didn't like the setting or the stone... Jewelry is a personal thing. And an engagement ring will be something she'll wear everyday, showing off to her friends... You definitely need to get more info from her. It's fine if she doesn't want to pick it out herself. There is something special about having your loved one pick it for you, but part of what makes that special is that he cared enough to know what you like and then goes out and finds it.

| I guess that would save me from having to figure out what to get her for Christmas... Hmmm, tempting it is. |

I told Leigh Ann that I would never propose on Valentine's Day because it was typical and I wanted to be different. Needless to say, I did it mainly because I knew she wouldn't be expecting it.

So this is the ring. It isn't quite as big or gaudy as it looks. Anyway, it is a vintage ring from France, and I am 200% positive she will love it!
I might get the diamonds replaced in the future. I am def going to have it looked at and gauged by a professional, though.
I am so excited!! I really can't wait to propose! It is going to take all I have in me not to do it the first chance I get!
And I broke the news to my dad. He was happy, but he reminded me that this is a lifetime commitment. Of course, I know that, and I know he knows I know that, but I know that as my parent he feels he must say it.
And he also told me that if I ever cheated on her he would beat me till I couldn't see!
Yeah. My mother and father divorced because my mom cheated on my dad, so he is really sensitive about thi type of thing.
