| I was also in the phase of only visiting the specific forums that seemed to interest me. Thus leaving my post count barren for such a long time. Once I discovered the "New Posts" button it seems to have increased dramatically. This doesn't include the numerous extended periods of time where I just wouldn't log on.

Prior to the discover of "New Posts," I would always browse CGR from the comfort of my User CP, only visiting the forums that I had marked and the few threads that I had subscribed to. With "New Posts," I started visiting any thread that caught my eye, no matter what forum it was in.
Of course, now that I'm The People's Super Moderator I have to keep my eyes on everything, so the "New Posts" button is invaluable. |

#65 | | Cool enough Administrator | I have always used the "new posts" button. I have a high post count because I have spent a lot of time on CGR. I do not care if my post count is high. I just care that I am making friendships here, and contributing to a community. |

It's a statistic. Statistics are interesting, because, well they are. I used to simulate seasons in Madden franchises and take pleasure in viewing the statistics my teams and players racked up. Statistics are fun.
Trying to make post count more then just a statistic (or regulate it better and solidify that extra-statistical value) is silly and backwards. People should draw value from the relationships, lessons, conversations, and moments of fun etc. had on this site. To try and add value to superficial statistics like post count just boosts egos, promotes bad motives, and overlooks the true value of this site.

| I've always been a little embarrassed about my post count. I'm a very busy woman with a family, a career, church stuff, community stuff, a house, yard, pets, etc - how can I possibly have time to post that much? |

| It really doesn't. It hasn't been hard at all to average nine to eleven posts per day for this contest, really, no matter how busy I get, and only a few of those have been cheap posts meant to boost post count . |

In all seriousness, I know what you're saying. I log on and see pretty much the same thing all the time. It has its advantages though, there are less things to read so it's easier to stay caught up on everything.
