Death Panels For a while, I thought this was just some kind of goofy fringe conspiracy theory, but mainstream politicians and publications are starting to spread this nonsense as well.
For instance US Investors Daily recently speculated that, were Stephen Hawking British, he never would have lived to make his now famous strides in astrophysics because the British public healthcare system would not have deemed his life not worth the effort of saving. Thing is, Stephen Hawking is British, and survived to his current age with the help of the British healthcare system.
Sarah Palin has recently accused the President of wanting to kill her baby.
People are at health care policy meetings calling the President a Nazi who wants to kill unworthy Americans.
I am opposed to the public option myself, because I don't think we can afford it and because I don't think addresses the underlying problem of rising healthcare costs, but I am to the point where I am afraid to voice my own opinion about it because I'd rather be wrong than be associated with the ignorance and lies.
Honest conservatives ought to be on the front lines of the war against the spread of this nonsense, because it's making us look bad.
