Its usually pretty hard to get away with these ones..

I've had people tell me they "thought" I had counterfeit bills. I've always wondered if I've mistakenly handled ones before..

Never actually seen one that I know of, but my friend worked at a Kroger where a guy used a counterfeit $20 that only was printed on one side. Seems like a fool-proof plan for counterfeiting .

A few years ago my mom had a few color copied one dollar bills that she got as change at a restaurant. My uncle used to empty change machines with black and white copies.

i think it would be harder to make counterfeit money here in new zealand and australia seeing that their money is similar to ours, its just that our money is made from plastic. which is handy when you wash your jeans with $20 in your pockets.

In any fiat economy, ALL money is counterfeit.

I've never gotten any countfeit money but I have gotten tons of money from different countries.
Canadian pennies are what we usually get (they look very similar to amarican ones at a glance) but I have also gotten a canadian quarter, two ten cent pieces from singapore, two twenty five cent pieces from norway(as far as i could tell), and about two dollars worth of assorted mexican money.

We aren't allowed to keep them in our drawer or give them as change to cutomers and usually have to buy them out or get bookeeping to do it.

A guy in my highschool was counterfeiting small denominations, and got blown in when he made a bill that was a $5 bill on one side and a $10 on the other, haha. Got off scott free, too, because he was a minor.

To elaborate on Dan's story: CAD $50 and $100 notes are very prone to counterfeiters (and/or they're the notes most often counterfeited). So much so that many stores won't accept them, or if they do, they scan them under ultraviolet light as a matter of practice, because the notes have some very readily apparent anti-counterfeit features that show up under UV light.

When I worked at Chickfila, someone tried to pay with a laminated $20 bill. It was legit, but laminated.

I'm trying to come up with a scenario where you would want to laminate a 20... underwater cities are the only thing coming to mind right now (the only way to buy or sell goods in the underwater knife fighting community of course).
