I know when my name's about to come up in a roll call by the confused expression and awkward pause before whoever it is attempts to speak.

And don't even get me started on my last name.

Your last name seems pretty straightforward to me.

Please tell me its pronounced the way it looks?

I once knew a guy whose last name was First. Makes some pretty confusing forms to fill in.

Perhaps. But I have never seen Jonathan spelled any other way in any of the Bibles I've seen...

That's why they say rule of thumb is to ask: Can you please spell your name for me?
Some even add: and can you spell it slowly?
Fast or slow - no difference.

I hate it when people call me Tyler...

But most people, if they have not met me and are going just off the name assume I must b a girl, which is really annoying. I hated my name when I was young. Instead I wanted to change it to "Link", like in The Legend of Zelda!

Sometimes people type my name as "Christ" instead of "Chris." Then I feel all silly.
