| My mother frequently gets people guessing her name is 'Doobie.' Which leaves me guessing as to how dumb people can be.
No joke. |

| The main problem I have is that my boss never remembers what my last name is.
My last name is Ellis.
But when he is looking for Andrew Ellis, he starts going around looking for Andrew Elliot.
Back when we had the big Swine Flu scare, he made an appointment for me to go to a doctor, and he made the appointment for an "Andrew Elliot". Fortunately, someone was standing nearby who corrected him.

| I am Jonathan.
Not Jonathon, Johnathan, Jhonathan, Johnathon, Jhonathon, Johathan...
I am Jonathan. Just like in the Bible.
When shortened, Jonathan becomes Jon. Not John. Jon.

| Oddly enough, to me Jon is one of those very cool male names. John is old and fuddy. Yeah, I know they sound the same, but in my mind they're totally different names. |

However, I have never seen a Bible with it spelled that way. It's always "Rachel." I did have someone say, "like in the Bible" when I told them how to spell my name though. So, I'm thinking that some Bibles spell some names differently. In conclusion, it may not be useful to say "like in the Bible" when referring to how to spell names.

| My sister's name was Carole. I have a good friend named Carol. Two of the nurses who work for me are named Carol, and my secretary is Carole. Trying to remember who gets an "e" is exhausting. |

| Okay, here we go.
It's Leighanna.
Not Leighanne, Leanna, Leana, Leanne, Leah, Leia, Liliana, Iliana or Breanna.
It is pronounced lee-AN-uh, or /liænə/ if we're being technical. Not lee-AH-na, LAY-ah-na, or lee-ANN.
I know when my name's about to come up in a roll call by the confused expression and awkward pause before whoever it is attempts to speak.
And don't even get me started on my last name. |
