Cam's Graphics work

It should be noted, that I am new to this.

I made this wallpaper for myself as motivation for NaNoWriMo. It's meant to be simple and to the point.
I'll post more once I get them done.

It's nice. Very stark. I'd have eliminated the exclamation point, since it seems to break the mood.

I think one change would be to align the text with the top or the bottom. Get the spacing between lines closer together. Change it up a bit...... rotate "your" 90 degrees to the left and squeeze it up next to "novel". I think since we read text and it contains information, which is left-brained, we forget that text can be beautiful.... it can be a design element. It can be right-brained. We forget that, and don't get creative enough with it. I think you have a good start because you aligned it to the right, which is already counter-intuitive and unique. Just get EVEN more crazy.

Text is fun, too, because you don't need a lot of money to play around with it. No stock photography to buy, no fancy software..... so have fun with it!

Okay, I'll work on that. I seem to have deleted the original .svg, so I'll start from scratch.

Never stretch type. Just don't do it.

The leading (space between the lines) is very tight. makes for a lot of tension while reading.

Well, it depends. Whatever you do, do it with confidence. If they're touching, make them touch. If they're separate, make them separate. This is a really simple design anyway. Not much to it.

Reminds me of this:

And Jon is right...... you must have confidence in placement and design, no matter how you do it. Confidence will allow you to stretch the boundaries, which makes for interesting and notable design.

(Also, I didn't mean you had to follow directions exactly. I was just giving you some examples of pushing the limits with type.)

I think your message is changed. At first you wanted to be reminded to work on your novel. Now you are emphasizing that the novel belongs to you so it does not matter when you get to work on it. IMO, I do agree with Sarah about placement, but if the font remains the same, then striking words should show a little colour.
Get back on message with 'Quit Messing' and 'Go'. Those are your speaking points right there. Show some tear away on the word 'Go' - italic, tire marks etc.

Not any scurring fonts here to choose but GO write your novel Cam42.

Okay, I'm working on a version of the corkboard with a wooden frame around it.

Any resolutions that anyone wants me to do?
