Around 97. My dad has always been the tech nerd. The internet was a lot different back then. And I didn't mind the wait for loading as much...

My first computer was a 486, and we first got online in about 97/98. Then I got some Win 95 system (Probably a Pentium 100), and we networked the whole house.

Hm. That's a tough one... Probably around 1996-97. Some of my first memories of the internet involve the AOL guy's "You've got mail!" chime. No idea when that came out, though.

Wasnt that the forerunner to the 2/3/486 processors?

yes it was. and the processor used in the original IBM PC. I just thought about how it's been a long time since I've seen the words IBM-Compatible on anything tech related.

You all can consider yourself lucky. We barely had dial-up in 1998 and 1999. It was a new thing for our region. I guess it's not saying much though because a lot of people are still on dial-up and a few still don't have indoor plumbing.

When we had dial-up (until about four or five years ago or so?), we had to split it between two computers. And we gamed on that. HARDCORE.

I've had broadband since it became available in my area, around 2003, I think.
