My old truck topped out around 90, and around 110 in a FWD crap-box mazda 3 on Costco tires.

I went 120 plus in a beat up Chevy Corssica once. It didn't feel very safe as the car was rattling and felt like it was going to come apart at any moment.

There are two ways to leagaly have fun with your car that I can think of off the top of my head.

Autocross (SCCA SOLO II)
Drag racing

Both events let you "run what you brung"

FWIW, I've been "legaly" up to 117 ish a care I own, and 125 illegally in a car I owned.

Was in a Z06 that hit, I think, 130 easy on the same track i hit 117.

I've also been about 750 mph in the plane I fly for work.

A cold winter for you is when the lake freezes?!? In Canada those are 10 months of the year

well I've only lived here for 2 years and it has both years... last winter we go so much snow that it insulated a 2inch layer of ice and the ice didnt get thicker till it all melted and refroze.

Like I said though it's lots of fun to do... going in big, empty, icey/snowy parking lots is fun too

I've been about 102 in my car. And it was totally legal!!! Yay for highways with no speed limit!!! I would have gone faster but I got scared and the wheel started shaking. My car is not meant to go that fast.

If it was in the US the highway had a speed limit whether it was posted or not. Or at least it did when I took my drivers test five years ago.

Not necessarily... One or multiple of those northern states that no one wants to live in have no speed limits on some of their highways/interstates .

Incorrect. That used to be the case for Montana, but the US government threatened to pull all highway funds if they did not post a speed limit. I believe it is 75 in those areas currently.

All sections of US highway have speed limits. The highest of which is 80. 102 is always illegal on a us highway.

Yup.

Speed Limit Laws

Texas and Utah have sections of rural highway that are 80 mph in the daylight only. Everyone else is 75 or below, no exceptions.

Wha? When did that happen? That's depressing... So much for my desires to visit Montana at some point.

like a decade ago, IIRC, about 6 months after they rescinded their speed limit.

In MI's upper peninsula they have perpendicular lines painted on the road then the police fly small planes and watch to see how fast the cars cross the lines to determine their speed. The speed limit is 75ish, but they wont bother sending a police cruiser after you unless you are going well over 90. In fact my cousin was up there hunting and passed a policeman at like 95 (he didn't see him till it was too late to slow down) and the cop didn't even do anything... I guess it depends on the cop.
