how many other cars were around you? I've heard a lot of people say there are sections of freeway in Texas that dont really have a marked speed limit... is that true?

There are probably parts of Texas (like the area where I rode in a car doing 125-130) that are very sparsely patrolled by the Texas State Troopers, however I don't think there are any places that are without a de facto speed limit.

Hit the limiter on my Saturn (somewhere around 105-108, the DOHC is limited at 124). It was fun, but I feel silly speeding in a compact gas-saver. Just seems wrong.

Hit 105 or so in my '01 Accord once, but that's about it. Not really interested in getting a huge ticket and losing my license. Wish I had a bit of property and a decent car to play around with... Maybe one day when I'm a millionaire .

See, I'd love to have a ton of land and even just have ATV's or dirt bikes, but alas... No such luck.

I'm going to attempt to get a job that will finance a car purchase by the time snow happens..... hopefully an AWD car with a turbo....

And if not this winter, then next winter.

I think it is becasue there is less stuff around you to protect you. I've reached between 45 and 50 mph going downhill on a bicycle which was almost scary, but the same speed in a car seems slow.
