Aviation

Have you thought about a career as a pilot, or in another flying-related job? If so, allow me to talk you out of it.

I'm currently trying to get a job that would involve acting like a pilot, while on the ground. It would pay massively more than my current job, which involves actually being a pilot. This industry is to be avoided at all costs.

Nice.

I definitely want to get into aviation, but not as a job or career.

Of course, I also want to be rich.

Sidenote: There is a shortage of Air Traffic Controllers, and the FAA is hiring candidates off the street for the position. The pay is pretty nice if you can deal with the stress of the job.

Yeah..... but then you're a controller. And I'm in no rush to find out about the list of health problems that controllers historically have due to excessive stress.

No problem. You just need to get your nursing license, then start you own Air Ambulance company. There is a huge need for these services, and I bet one that was owned by a nurse would be a favorite. I just made you a very wealthy man, Ben - and I am not joking one bit.

The surest way to know that there are absolutely no flying-related opportunities to be had... is when someone says 'there is a huge need for these services.' Good jobs in this industry are found by luck and accident.

Nope... although that pays more that being a pilot as well.

The job I'm looking at is called 'remote pilot operator.' It involves sitting on the ground, at a computer/simulator, and acting like a pilot for the purpose of training air traffic controllers.

I love aviation... I'm not a pilot, I have considered being one though but I just realize that there are other things that i would like to do with my life. If I became a pilot, I would want to fly apaches.. fav. type of helicopter.

My job is aviation operations, and I held the position of door gunner here in Afghanistan,
which I loved.. I love flying and i wish that I could do it more
