| Any Interesting Phone Calls Lately? I have a constant caller (1-800) that would not leave my number alone. Says they have left me a urgent messages (not! ) and I would not return their call so call them at this number. Almost tempted to call and ask them what they talking about - dare not! a trap.
They are now calling at 'strategic' times. My solution? Turn off the ringer (identifies a LD call) and the ans/machine. Let them continue to hang up in frustration.

| Well, yesterday I called my uncle and he pretended I'd called Domino's Pizza...
... I don't know if that counts. |

#5 | | Registered User | My cell rang the other day
"Hello?"
"Hey, is Christina there?" (Now, to make this clear, I don't even know anyone named Christina)
"Umm... No, you got the wrong nu-" then they hung up. kinda weird. Not many people have the same prefix in their phone number that I do, it's pretty new. |

| We received a call this morning on the office phone that was a pre-recorded message telling us how Congress approved grant money for small business owners and we may qualify.
I received a phone call just a moment on my cell phone from number (484) 892-6078. A quick internet search has led me to believe it's along the same lines as the car warranty scams going on. I didn't answer it because it only rang once.

| I get one daily from 12434304297. I believe it to be some sort of scam, but they never answer so I can't figure it out.

If it is someone that I know who it is or a number I vaguely remember, I'll pick up. Otherwise, it's straight to the voice mail. What's so hard about catching on to these guys is they never leave a voice mail. How am I supposed to send them money if you don't leave a message?

| We regularly get phone calls from (possibly fake) credit card companies wanting us to apply for a credit card. Sometimes it's even a recorded message.
My mom once got duped into giving out her credit card number over the phone. The sad part was, I was in the house and I could only hear her end of the conversation and I still knew it was a scam. I was sitting there watching TV, hearing her talk to this person about a "free cruise," and I yelled out a few times, "Don't give them your credit card number, mom!" I don't think she'd actually do it, so I didn't badger her too much. Then she comes into the living room wanting to tell me all about the wonderful free cruise she's going to be going on and got really upset when I kept interrupting her to ask if she'd given out her credit card number.
She finally relented and called the credit card company to cancel the card and they let her know that they were about to call her. They got some suspicious charges on the card from Afghanistan... |

| I get calls from recruiters all the time at work. Since it's generally considered to be poor form to recruit a person at their place of employment, they often use the line "I was wondering if you have any friends or know of anybody who might be interested in making a career change". They usually want me to move across the country. I like to ask them lots of questions about the position and let them think that I'm interested before I tell them that I don't know anybody who is looking to change jobs. |
